Your wedding in Spain: Q&A

Do you have some questions about the wedding ceremony?

I’d be happy to answer a few of them below.

What is a non-religious wedding?

A non-religious wedding ceremony is an emotional occasion to celebrate your union in a ceremonial way after your civil marriage. The location, time, and content – everything is customizable to what feels right for you. Typically, the ceremony includes elements such as a speech, vows, rituals, the exchange of rings, and the declaration of "I do." However, we can also customize these elements together, just the way you want it.

When should we contact you to request the desired date for our non-religious wedding?

Ideally, as early as possible. As soon as you know when and where you'd like to get married in Spain, contact me and request your preferred date and time.

Which month
should we choose to get married in Spain?

In the summer, it can get quite hot in southern Spain. I recommend getting married in May, June, or September, as these months offer pleasant temperatures and aren't too hot.

How long does the wedding ceremony last?

There is no right or wrong here either. However, based on my experience, a duration of about 45-60 minutes, including vows, wedding rituals, or live music, works perfectly.

Where can we be married by you?

Wherever you want – I’ll walk, drive, or fly to you, because a non-religious wedding should be as unique and special as you are as a couple. That includes choosing the perfect place to say 'I do'.
Whether it’s on the beach, in the mountains, or at a finca near Marbella, Málaga, Granada, or Seville – I’m happy to be there with you, wherever your heart feels at home.

Who provides the technical equipment?

For wedding parties of 15 or more people, I will need a microphone and speakers to amplify my voice. I have both, and they are automatically included in my quote.
If you have booked a musician or DJ for your ceremony or reception, they can also provide the necessary technical equipment. Be sure to discuss this beforehand to ensure everything runs smoothly on the big day—including the technical aspects.

Is this ceremony legally binding like a civil marriage?

Only a registry office can officially declare you legally married. That’s why a civil ceremony always comes first. Your non-religious wedding ceremony, however, is the heartfelt celebration that follows – the emotional highlight and the icing on the cake of your big day.

What time of day is optimal for the wedding ceremony?

A typical Spanish wedding (especially in summer) begins later in the day to avoid the intense heat. Personally, I find late afternoon to be ideal for an outdoor ceremony.

Do you have any recommendations for locations etc.?

I can recommend experienced wedding planners near Marbella and support you with ideas for stunning venues, DJs, live musicians, caterers, and professional hair & makeup artists. Feel free to ask me for local recommendations! Since I live here and planned my own wedding in Andalusia, I’d be happy if my trusted contacts can help make your planning easier and your big day even more special.
